QUALITY – ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

American Biltrite (Canada) Ltd. is a company based in Sherbrooke since 1913, whose mission is to serve a global market in resilient flooring, industrial rubber, and mudflaps.

Our strategy is to offer a range of specialized products in the markets we serve and develop new products to meet specific customer needs.

We are committed to maintaining an integrated management system which will:

Lifecycle

American Biltrite chooses recyclable or recoverable packaging whenever possible. In most areas, materials such as cardboard, plastic, and wood can easily be recycled, recovered or reused. We recommend that you implement the same recycling initiatives and take advantage of the available facilities in your region.

When it comes time to dispose of our products as they reach the end of their life cycle, it is also possible for you to reduce the environmental footprint since they can be recycled. We invite you to search local recycling outlets. If it is impossible for you to recycle, note that our products are not usually considered as hazardous materials and can be used as landfill. However, it is important to refer to your local regulations to ensure that they comply with the requirements that apply to your area.

Plan to Prevent Forced Labour and Promote Decent Working Conditions

This plan aims to ensure that our business partners treat their employees with respect and do not employ children.

Definition of forced labour: Forced labour, as defined in Article 2 of the 1930’s Forced Labour Convention, includes any type of work or service required from a person under any threat or penalty. This includes situations where individuals are compelled to work against their will, with exceptions related to legal conviction, mandatory military service, etc.

Potential risks in our Supply Chain: For the year 2023 and the beginning of 2024, American Biltrite collaborated with 866 suppliers. Of this number, 12 companies are located outside North America, including 5 European suppliers, 6 Chinese suppliers, and one South African supplier. North American and European suppliers are considered low-risk due to the labour laws prevailing in these countries. However, Chinese and South African partners require special attention.

Suppliers Audit: Each strategic supplier undergoes an assessment every three years and must commit to respecting our management rules, which include the prohibition of forced labour in any form.

For suppliers located in areas requiring special attention:

• China: an inspection visit by our local employee to validate each new order and verify working conditions is required. We specify to our suppliers that they cannot source from the XUAR area, which is considered at risk for forced labour. In addition, it is mandatory for our suppliers to commit, in writing, to respecting our requirements regarding forced labour, i.e., not to use forced labour in any way.
• South Africa: our partners are required to sign our compliance declaration and commit in writing to not engage in forced labour in any way.
